Linux software for control and management of computer systems for public use (public Internet halls and kiosks). Jikos Soft includes GUI interface (KDE applet), coin validation server and web administration interface.
The public internet terminal Jikos 1100 permits easy and fast use in a place that is unnatural for the user. Every visitor of a public place where Jikos is installed, may pay to use the services it provides.
The software application Jikos Soft controls the user, maximizes the profit with price zones and permits configuration and management through a Web interface.
The zero level of administration automatically recovers the operational system in the eventual case of intentional ill-mannered actions by a user.
Jikos makes easy the full self-service of the user with its capability to work in their language. The operational system supports over 10 languages.
GUI development with QT is a challenging task. The hardest part of Jikos Soft was not what I expected - it was not the building of the KDE applet, the connection with the coin validator, the enforcement of configured permissions, paid and free zones, etc..., it was CUPS - the sync between the price tariffs per page printed and CUPS have really made me scream at some points, but it also helped me learn a lot.
