Krasi Zlatev - About
I have been professionaly into development for more than seven years. Although I am a graduate in Corporate Finance, the net has always been a passion for me.
I actually started my career as a system administrator back in the late 90s. The turning point was when I first put my hands on a Slackware Linux 3.5.
I am a bit nostalgic for these days, upgrading my 8bit PC, installing my first Slack, having an Internet connection of 19200 bps (following schmemas like this one), browsing the net and reading as much as possible.
The fascination I had into Linux lead me to system and network administraion as well as administration of Remote Access Servers. Being a network administrator I started developping system software from kernel modules to squid patches. I am still so proud of these squid patches as they increased the bandwidth capacity by 1% (as low a figure it may see, a huge amount ot saved traffic it is).
As a web developer I started with Perl. I still believe this is a great language suitable for almost every need. I've done numerous projects based on mod_perl, some of them you could see in the published portfolio. As PHP evolved many of the projects I work on I am doing now in PHP and now it's Ruby on everybody's tip of the tongue. The language in which to develop a new product depends on the project requirements and the project complexity. I believe that every product should be developed keeping in mind that it can evolve. Templating systems are always an important part of every web solution I develop. Separating the business from the presentation logic allows easy modification of the look and feel of the product.
Browse through the portfolio section to learn more about the projects I have completed (due to non disclosure agreements I provide only a short list of my portfolio).
